Youth Volunteers
“What I like about Peer Court is that it’s not like other volunteer programs. Here you are a mentor and a role model working actively to change the lives of your peers – the people you see everyday.”
“Peer Court helped me look at situations from others points of view. Not judge people by how they look or bad decisions they have done. I learned not to give up on my mentees. You’ve got to keep trying. Never give up!”
“I really felt like I was making a difference in people’s lives. I think this program really helps improve people’s ideas of themselves and gives them new opportunities. This has helped me be more responsible and made me be more dependable and considerate of others.”
Adult Volunteers
“I absolutely love Peer Court! I love seeing the wonderful smiles on people’s faces when they complete Peer Court. There is almost always a change in not only attitude, but also in confidence as well when they have completed the course.”
“I had the pleasure of meeting some of the brightest young people I have ever met. They have done a terrific job of handling cases and working with each other and with the children brought into Peer Court in order to really make a difference.”
“I first came to Peer Court as a High School Senior not knowing exactly what Peer Court was. Over the last ten years I have continued to volunteer in whatever capacity I am able to. In doing so I have seen that there are people who really make a difference and people who have made mistakes and want to change. There are positive things happening with the youth in our society despite the negative stigma the media has given this young generation. Like myself there are other volunteers who have been around for several years. We continue to volunteer because we believe in the Power of Peer Influence. We are called their ‘Advisors’ but in reality they have advised us on the needs of their peers and then led the way.”
Parents
“I’m amazed about all these mentor kids who are very responsible and helpful to other kids.”
“What a wonderful program! It helps youth to be professional and mature. It’s great knowing they can help other kids to be good citizens.”
